DRAWING PHASE
Every painting begins with the drawing. This is where the idea moves from imagination to the surface and the composition begins taking shape. Lines are explored, adjusted, and developed until there’s a foundation ready to become a painting.
DRY BONES LAYER
The drawing begins its transformation into paint. The image is still raw and far from finished, but the figures, forms, and overall world of the painting begin emerging from the surface.
MILESTONE PHASE
This is where the painting starts feeling alive. The early groundwork gives way to a fuller image as color, atmosphere, and personality begin settling into the piece. It’s the first real glimpse of where the finished painting is headed.
GRAIN GLORIES
The painting moves into its final stretch. I spend this phase working across the piece, enriching what’s already there and giving attention to the smaller moments that make the image feel complete, intentional, and distinctly its own.
REVEAL
The painting leaves the easel and becomes the finished work. After all the building, changing, refining, and unexpected turns along the way, this is the moment the complete piece is finally presented.
