More Than a Painting

My names Ricky De La Cruz. I was born and raised in Los Angeles California, I lived in the great state of Texas and now serve you out of that there Volunteer state. Because your painting is the only Ten I see. I've been drawing since I was in kindergarten and painting for 17+ years. I want to capture more than likeness, more than an essence, I want to hear your story and paint it back to you. Over the last 8 years I've been developing my workflow and methodology to capture and retell those stories in a way that comes from my soul to yours. In 2026 i'll be opening up my studio to invite you in to watch the whole thing Live thanks to Aevum Hall Productions.

Years of Experience

As a Father, for me this is about Calling, it's what I've always gravitated towards growing up. I've worn many hats, had many jobs, and spent 17 years working corporate events. Life happens, you live, you learn, sometimes crash and burn. What's important is that you get up and try again, and hopefully help the next guy get up too.

Before social media, despite all the adversity, doubt and offense, creating art is what I've always set out to do. The Path was never linear, Thanks be to God somehow through faith I made it here.

From the school of Hard Knocks I'm in the never ending pursuit of perfecting my craft beyond where I've momentarily set up camp. My hope is that I can be of service to you and your needs. Whether that be for a loved one, a memory, a reflection that you want taken from the abstract into the physical, I'm ready to hear you out.

Because thats always been the dream: to provide a quality painting at a reasonable cost so you can see something in Your heart, soul and mind brought to life. To God be all the Glory, honor and Grace forever and ever. Amen

Our Process

How It Works

Every commission is a little different, but getting started is simple. ^^^ Choose the service that best fits what you have in mind. If you’re unsure, that’s okay, tell me what you’re thinking and we’ll figure out where it fits.

The good news is, now? you got a guy. Your very own artist guy.

How long does a commission take?

Every painting is different. Size, complexity, revisions, and the amount of collaboration involved all affect the timeline. I will update you along the way, these updates will serve as mile markers on the journey to completing your commission.

What happens before you start a painting?

Some commissions are straightforward: tell me what you want, send your reference photos, answer a few questions about color preference, place your deposit, and I start painting. Direct, easy peasy.

Others are more collaborative: Depending on the commission, we may use a questionnaire, schedule a consultation, or for tiered experience we sit down for a recorded Bon Fire Interview to develop the idea together. I’ll present the direction back to you before painting begins so we know we’re on the same page.

It really depends on what you want from the process there are options for you.

What should I send you?

When you fill out the contact form, you can upload any photos, references, sketches, or ideas you already have. They don’t have to be perfect or even fully figured out just get me in the ballpark and put me in coach.
